Samuel Terry (1776?-1838) was convicted of theft in Lancashire in 1800 and exiled to "some part beyond the Seas" for seven years. In Australia Samuel became one of the wealthiest men in the country and was involved in merchanise,
mills, breweries and land investments. In 1810 he married Rosetta Marsh (nee Pracey). They had five children and at least sixteen grandchildren. Samuel and many of his descendants were influential in Australian politics and his many descendants continue to reside in Australia.
